As important as the patient's needs are, exploring deeper is essential too. Undeniably, healing is not limited to medicine. It’s the encouragement and safeness in the space we provide. That’s my role, to be of service outside of the office, and to understand those I treat through meaningful and open-minded ways.

Hi, I’m Dr.bernie russell.

About

Dr. Bernie Russell’s combined approach to medicine and life is as follows: always apply expertise in the most productive possible manner, and always seek out new knowledge. Because of this attitude, she considers herself both a doctor and an empowerer. Her passion is ensuring that her patients’ health is the best it possibly can be for a simple purpose, so that they can prosper and reach new heights.

She prides herself on her bedside manner, her ability to always consider a range of options and her dedication to seeing everyone she helps as unique. But really, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what makes her an outstanding medical expert. When practicing medicine, Dr. Russell knows that she needs to review the latest research, communicate with other medical leaders and work with each individual patient on their own terms.

Too often, in Dr. Russell’s opinion, healthcare has struggled to treat people as people. To her, there is no “cookie cutter” approach to women’s health. Instead, by combining cutting-edge medical research, by applying a wealth of experience and by always working with people on their individual goals, she and her patients succeed time and time again.

In addition to being a medical expert, Dr. Russell is a world traveler, an art lover, a linguistic enthusiast and so much more. She knows that by pursuing these passions, she has become a better doctor, a better human and a better empowerer.

It would be cliche to say that Dr. Russell sees no distinction between her professional and personal life. And because she refuses to be cliche, she rejects this statement. Instead, she definitely appreciates the divide between medical practice and life passions. But she also knows that one can inform the other. What she learns in a medical setting impacts how she treats others outside of work. And what she experiences in her personal life has a subtle yet profound effect on her ability to work with her patients to achieve their life goals while improving their health.

Dr. Russell is proudly based in New York City. She both lives and works in this vibrant, one-of-a-kind place, which thrives on cultural integration. It’s a privilege for her to be able to meet patients of all different backgrounds and work out how best to make them thrive. Yes, it’s an incredibly challenging place to practice medicine, but luckily, she thrives on challenges.

She’s fluent in three languages, English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. This means that she can communicate with a wide range of patients in a way that they’ll understand. But she also strives to accommodate any patient who may struggle with her three languages. Communication with these people may take a little longer, but she always ensures that the messages get through and that those individuals are happy with the care she provides.

Her credentials are also outstanding. The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology has continually certified her. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University awarded her a medical degree. The North Shore University Hospital provided her with her medical residency and internship. And the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center has provided her with a faculty position. In addition to this, she also maintains close connections with the New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital and the Long Island College Hospital. These connections ensure that she remains at the forefront of the latest medical developments, whether that means engaging with a new device or a new philosophy.
